Tibetan
metal bowls are often played while held in the hand but can be easier
to play if they are placed on cushions or quilted mats. We have a range
of cushions in three sizes and quilted mats in various designs.

Bowl Cushions
The
Tibetan bowl cushions are made from brocade fabric in various
sizes, colours and patterns. The bowls are placed in the indented
centre which holds the bowl securely but does not inhibit the
resonance when it is played.

Bowl Mats
Alternatively
bowls can be played on quilted mats. These mats are produced in
plain colours, patterned fabric or with an embroidered design
(the mushroom designs are shown in the photo). Like the bowl cushions,
bowl mats hold the bowl while it is being played.

We
also have thicker Tibetan bowl mats in six different colours. These
are made from a velvet fabric and are much thicker than the quilted
mats - around 4cm (nearly 2 inches). They are available in two different
diameters. |
As with
many 'Tibetan' items these bowl cushions and mats are made in Nepal
and northern India where many Tibetan traditions and crafts are being
continued.
